HEXFIELD

novelty-driven generative fields

it paints

words: nothing to read

Read as stance rather than as meaning - roughly how good, how energetic, how contained, how many. It steers the recipe and decides which harvested fragments the picture is built from. Unknown words are derived and say so; nothing here is a lookup table of pictures.

novelty search depth — 10 candidates

Each candidate is rendered small, reduced to a signature, and scored on distance from everything in the archive. The most distant one wins. 1 disables the search.

The original archive generator is still underneath. Every new field is painted again under its chosen laws; you can recursively repaint its actual output. Open the full Rule Studio ↗

Hexfield creates the file. An independent Australian printer sells, prints, ships and supports your order. No Hexfield payment account.

Thumbnails are the runners-up from the search — click one to inspect it instead. The self-critic balances foreign novelty against clutter, breathing room, and contrast. VARY runs a fresh search; PERTURB nudges the render you have. The archive is shared across every visitor, so the field keeps drifting away from what anyone has made — connecting…
